Your LinkWelcome to the new AUDTRS website. Our hope is that this will be an efficient and clear channel for information about what is happening and current news and events. AUDTRS works with other national subject associations within the arts and humanities to keep a watching brief on developments that concern the future of our subject in higher education. We are also concerned with such on-going tasks as benchmarking for our subject. The closure of the Subject Centre for Philosophical and Religious Studies in 2011 has meant that some of its resources have devolved onto AUDTRS. In particular, the website includes the database that was formally published as the AUDTRS Handbook, and we are keen that this is now updated to provide a useful reference resource.
The website is very much a tool for our members, as well as being a public face for TRS. Please forward anything, or news of meetings, that you think would be useful to add to the site, or any links. We will keep it updated regularly.
On 15th February I will be attending, on behalf of AUDTRS, a meeting for learned societies in London which will discuss the future of open access in scholarly monograph publishing in the humanities and social sciences, a project called OAPEN-UK, recently launched by JISC Collections and the AHRC. (LINK).

Two AUDTRS events are planned for 2012: a day conference entitled "Theology and Religious Studies: The Way Forward" in York St.John University, York, 31st March 2012 (LINK). Our AGM will take place in King's College, London on Saturday 8th September, 2012.

The Framework of Professional Practice:

In recent years, AUDTRS has developed a number of important resources. The Framework of Professional Practice was drafted by a committee of AUDTRS members and offers a concise statement of ethical guidlines for teaching and practice in TRS:

"AUDTRS exists as a consultative body.  It is committed to integrity and responsibility within TRS, and encourages reflection and discussion on issues of ethics and professional practice.  This framework of practice is formally endorsed by TRS, and is subject to periodic review."

The latest Newsletter from AUDTRS president David Jasper is available:

It includes a recap of the recent day conference and the continuing changes to AHRC post-graduate funding.

"Christianity and Universities Today: A Double Manifesto."

Regius Professor of Divinity and Director of Cambridge Inter-faith Programme, Prof David Ford, has provided AUDTRS with a transcript of his recent Lord Dearing Memorial Lecture. This cogent and timely lecture represents an important contribution to the ongoing debate surrounding the future of Theology and Religious Studies.
